Top YouTube Moments of the Hoops Season

Oakland Arena
Thanks to YouTube, we have the pleasure of watching these two Kentucky students perform a Wildcat basketball version of "Lazy Sunday."
What is the greatest invention of the last 25 years? The cell phone? The hybrid car? Maybe, but if you ask SIOC, we say YouTube (actually, we'd probably say the internet, but YouTube is part of the web, so we are counting it). This simple video sharing tool has enabled fans to catch every ounce of the college basketball season -- from game highlights to homemade fan videos.

SIOC has spent the last week in our film room, watching thousands of clips, and have found our favorite three of the year:

1. This video of a pint-sized NC State fan reduced to tears after finding out that the Tar Heels beat the Wolfpack in the ACC Championship. 2. This pathetic (and hilarious) remake of the SNL Lazy Sunday skit, done Kentucky basketball style.

3. Joakim Noah and Vanderbilt coach Kevin Stallings battling for control of a basketball.

Bonus: This isn't YouTube, but we love this mp3 recording of Dick Vitale's attempt to sabotage Florida's run for a second straight national title.

Those are our favs. What are yours (with the link, please)?

Predicting the Bubble Teams

Oakland Arena
Sorry Rashaun Freeman, but Umass is likely heading to the NIT. Which bubble teams do you think have the best shot of making the Big Dance?

As conference play winds down, the word "bubble" once again becomes part of the collge basketball fan's vernacular. After all, with 65 tournament spots to be filled, there aer plenty of schools that will be glued to their television come Selection Sunday hoping they earned a spot in the Big Dance. So who is likely to make it? Who will settle for the NIT? We just don't know yet. Luckily, however, we have an expert like Seth Davis to help fill in some of the blanks. In his latest bubble breakdown, Davis divides the teams into four categories: comfortably in, barely in, out (but close) and long shot. Here's how it shapes up:

Comfortably In

UNLV, Stanford, Texas, BYU, Notre Dame, Villanova, Syracuse, Drexel

Barely In

Illinois, Creighton, Texas Tech, Old Dominion, Georgia Tech, Missouri State, Florida State

Out (but close)

DePaul, Purdue, Iowa, Gonzaga, San Diego State, Kansas State, Alabama, West Virginia

Long Shots

Oklahoma State, Xavier, Georgia, UMass, Clemson, VCU, Providence, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Hofstra, Washington, Bradley, Cal, Appalachian State

We know you're going to have some issues with Davis' picks. Let's hear them...

Who Should and Shouldn't Go Pro

Oakland Arena
Hasheem Thabeet, go back to school. You need to work on your hands before you can even think about playing in the NBA.

With conference play winding down and tournament action just around the corner, now is the time for many of today's top college players to bring the bacon and show the world they are NBA ready. The question these underclassmen face is whether to stay in school and hone their skills for another season or take their chance and declare for June's NBA Draft.

Last season, LSU's Glen "Big Baby" Davis – who was projected to be chosen in the middle of the first round -- decided to stick around Baton Rouge for another season and now he'll be lucky if he's picked in the second round. At the same time, Bradley's Patrick O'Bryant made himself eligible for the draft where he was selected No. 9 overall by Golden State ... which has been regretting the pick ever since (O'Bryant is averaging 6.1 points and 6.7 rebounds ... in the NBDL). It's safe to say that O'Bryant played the draft game perfectly while Davis cost himself millions.

Here's a list of some underclassmen facing the same decision … and our advice to them:

Greg Oden, Ohio State, freshman – Go pro. This decision shouldn't take more than six seconds, tops.

Kevin Durant, Texas, freshman – See above

Mike Conley Jr., Ohio State, freshman – Stay in school. Once Oden leaves, it's your show to run.

Brandan Wright, North Carolina, freshman – Stay in school. Yes, you could be a Top 5 pick, but one more year of waiting could give you both a national championship and the chance to be the No. 1 pick in 2008.

Julian Wright, Kansas, sophomore – Go Pro. You've player two years of college ball, it's time for your first payday.

Tyler Hansbrough, North Carolina, sophomore – Stay in school. Please. You're a marginal NBA player right now, at best.

Hasheem Thabeet, Connecticut, freshman – Stay in school. You're seven-foot-three, but you couldn't catch a beach ball right now. Please work on your game this summer (especially your hands) and turn yourself into a 2008 lottery pick.

Roy Hibbert, Georgetown, junior – Go pro. Your big decision was last year and you made the right way by staying at Georgetown. Now cash in.

That's our advice. What would you tell these underclassmen (and any other you can think of) to do next year?
