Barbara Jordan, South Burlington, Vt.
Track and Field
Jordan, 66, ran the 80-meter hurdles in 17.38, setting a U.S. record for the 65-69 age group at the National Masters Championships in Orono, Maine. She also set a world record for 66-year-olds in the pentathlon, with 3,556 points.
Seung Su Han, Chino Hills, Calif.
Golf
Seung, 16, won the Ping Phoenix Junior Championship in a playoff, giving him his fourth American Junior Golf Association title of the year. The only other golfers to win as many AJGA titles in one year are Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.
Kelly Wilson, Odessa, Texas
Soccer
Wilson, a sophomore striker with Texas, scored nine goals in five games to lead the U.S. to the title at the under-19 world championships in Edmonton. Her Silver Boot-winning performance included three goals in the quarterfinals against Denmark.
Stacia Fonseca, Lutz, Fla.
Tennis
Stacia, 16, won the state's 14-and-under, 16-and-under and 18-and-under titles in consecutive years, making her the first player to do so since 1974. She also won the Copper Bowl tournament in Tucson earlier this year.
Mike DeVore, Franklin, N.J.
Football
DeVore, a junior cornerback at St. John's (N.Y.), intercepted four passes during a 17-14 win over Canisius to set a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference record and tie a school record. He was playing in his first varsity game since missing a season due to ulcerative colitis.
Paul Schulte, Manchester, Mich.
Wheelchair Basketball
Schulte, 23, scored 32 points, including 4 of 4 three-pointers in the second quarter, to lead the U.S. to a 74-61 victory over Great Britain in the final of the Gold Cup in Kitakyushu, Japan. Schulte also had nine assists in the game.
Haley Dunn, Eddyville, Iowa
Skeet Shooting
Haley, 17, took first place at the Junior Olympic shooting championships in Colorado Springs, hitting 108 of 125 targets. Earlier this summer Haley was part of a three-person skeet team that won gold at the World Shooting Championships in Lahti, Finland.
