Lewis Howes, Delaware, Ohio Football Howes, a sophomore at Principia College in Elsah, Ill., set an NCAA record for receiving yards during a 42-35 loss to Martin Luther College. He gained 418 yards on 17 catches, breaking the record of 405 yards established by Troy Edwards in 1998 at Louisiana Tech.

		Jessica Jerome, Park City, Utah Ski Jumping Jessica, 15, took first place at the Ladies' International Summer Tournee competition in Rastbüchl, Germany. Jessica finished third overall for the tournament, which consisted of five events at different sites in Germany; she was the high American finisher.

Edward Jones Jr., Austin Track and Field Jones, a 57-year-old police sergeant, set an American long jump record for the 55-59 age group when he jumped 6.12 meters at the USA Masters Championships in Orono, Maine. The previous mark, 6.10 meters, had stood since 1981.

		Daniel Klemetz, Vänersborg, Sweden Tennis Klemetz, a senior at Middle Tennessee State, defeated Illinois junior Amer Delic to win the Icy Hot/ITA All-American Championships. He became the first Blue Raider to win a national singles title and the first to earn a No. 1 national ranking.

Tiffany Snow, Escondido, Calif. Field Hockey Snow, a senior midfielder at Old Dominion and the nation's second-leading scorer, had two goals and an assist as the Lady Monarchs defeated Drexel 8-1. The win gave Old Dominion its seventh consecutive undefeated season in the Colonial Athletic Association.

		George Todt, Huntingdon Valley, Pa. Soccer Todt, 55, of Archbishop Ryan High in Philadelphia, became the winningest boys' soccer coach in state history with a 1-0 win over Archbishop Wood. Todt's record is 518-101-92; in his 34 years at the school he has won 12 Catholic League titles.

Janelle Ruen, Post Falls, Idaho Volleyball Ruen, an Eastern Washington University senior, became the first player at the school to have 1,100 kills and 1,100 digs. Ruen, who is also an all-Big Sky Conference basketball player, was voted the Inland Northwest Female Athlete of the Year in 2001.
