Anthony Sidney, Fulton, MO. Football Anthony, a senior halfback and cornerback at Fulton High, scored four touchdowns in a span of 3:51 during the second quarter of a 43-0 win over the School of the Osage. He scored on a blocked punt return, an interception return, a run and a screen pass.
Jeff Soo, Chapel Hill, N.C. Croquet Soo, 38, won the singles and doubles titles at the U.S. Croquet Association National Championships in West Palm Beach, Fla. This was Soo's second title in singles and his fourth in doubles, all with partner Paul Scott of Raleigh.
Lindsay Sheppard, Williamsburg, VA. Volleyball Sheppard, 22, of Christopher Newport University, was named Dixie Conference coach of the year, a season after having been named the conference's player of the year. This year she led the Lady Captains (24-8) to regular-season and conference-tournament titles.
Missy Buttry, Shenandoah, Iowa Cross-country Buttry, a sophomore at Wartburg College, won the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship 5,000-meter race in 16:35, breaking the conference record by 49 seconds. She led the Knights to their second conference title in a row.
Mike Brown, Calgary, Alberta Hockey Brown, a sophomore goaltender at Ferris State, in Michigan, was named Central Collegiate Hockey Association defensive player of the week for four consecutive weeks, a first. He opened the season with a 7-1-0 record and a .957 save percentage.
Kaycie Zimmerman, Orem, Utah Soccer Kaycie, a senior at Mountain View High, stopped a penalty kick with nine minutes remaining to preserve a 1-0 victory in the 4A state title game against Mountain Crest. The win was the Bruins' 40th straight and gave them their third consecutive state title.
Haven Wynne, Nahant, Mass.
Tennis Wynne, a Merrimack College junior, had a 14-0 record as she led the Warriors to their second straight Northeast-10 Conference tournament title. The conference player of the year, Wynne has won 29 straight singles matches and 53 consecutive sets.
