Daniel Lincoln, Fayetteville, Ark.
Track and Field
Lincoln, a recent graduate of the University of Arkansas, became the first athlete in the history of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships to win both the 10,000-meter run and the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Joy Haviland, La Jolla, Calif.
Water Polo
Haviland, a recent graduate of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges and a four-time All-America, scored four of the Sagehens' eight goals in their NCAA Division III championship-game victory over the University of Redlands. She was named division player of the year.
Ryan Dvorak, Hoover, Ala.
Open-Water Swimming
Ryan, a senior at Hoover High who was competing in his first open-water contest, won the national 25K open-water swimming championship. He finished 21st in the 25K at the World Aquatics Championships in Barcelona last Saturday.
Charlotte Campbell, Heathrow, Fla.
Golf
Campbell, a sophomore at Rollins College, scored a Division II- record 299 over four rounds to win the NCAA Division II women's golf individual title and help the Lady Tars take the team title. She was named the NCAA Division II player of the year.
Skip Ivery, Columbus, Ohio
Track and Field
Ivery, a senior at Wittenberg University, won the school's first individual NCAA championship in 39 years when he placed first in the 110-meter hurdles at the Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Kassie Humphreys, Glendale, Ariz.
Softball
Humphreys led the Cactus High Cobras to the Class 4A state championship, striking out 68 in 34 2/3 innings in the four-game tournament. She was Arizona's Big School Player of the Year, and will attend the University of Kansas.
Shameka Speed, Bridgeton, N.J.
Track and Field
Speed won the 100, 200 and 400 meters and the long jump at New Jersey's Group II championships. The victories gave the Bridgeton High senior a total of 21 indoor and outdoor state championships. She will attend Murray (Ky.) State University.
