South Bend Softball Kwiatkowski, a junior centerfielder at Kentucky, went 3 for 4 with two home runs and six RBIs, to lead the Wildcats to a 12-4 victory over Eastern Kentucky. Through early April, she led the team in batting, hits, RBIs and steals.
Krefeld, Germany Water Polo Wengst, a sophomore at Southern Cal, scored a Trojans season-high seven goals to lead USC to a 12-8 defeat of San Diego State. Wengst -- also a member of the German national team -- led the Trojans in goals (53) through early April.
Philadelphia Basketball Carroll, a senior center at Philadelphia University, had 18 points in an 85-75 win over Southampton (N.Y.) College to push her career total to more than 2,000. She has also grabbed more than 1,000 rebounds for the Lady Rams.
Houston Track and Field Diaz, a senior All-America at Texas, was named the Big 12 Women's Indoor Performer of the Year after winning the 800 meters and the mile (2:05.53 and 4:40.12, respectively) in meet-record times at the league championships.
Grand Island, Neb. Gymnastics Cain, a senior All-America at Michigan, won the all-around -- with a conference record 39.75 points -- the floor exercise and the vault to lead the Wolverines to their second straight Big Ten championship. She has won seven all-arounds this season.
Lake Placid, N.Y. Skiing Shea, 59, beat Dee Larsen, 56, of Bedford, Mass., with a two-run time of 1:50.12 to take the gold medal in the slalom in the 55-59 age group at the 2000 Winter National Senior Games.
