Ultimate Olympic Guide: Archery

Expert: Nancy Myrick, 67, a three-time national champion who has been a coach since 1985. Her archers have set six world records.

Who to watch: "The U.S. has a tremendous chance for its first team medal. We have high expectations for Karen Scavotto, who at 18 is our youngest shooter and won gold at the International Golden Arrow meet in September 1999 in Sydney. Janet Dykman and Denise Parker are returning Olympians, and they've been very strong lately. Korea always sends a solid team, and Kim Soo Nyung, who won gold in '88 and '92, is making a comeback from retirement. It's difficult to pick who'll win because one puff of wind changes everything."

How to watch: "Consistency with timing is very important. Your top shooters draw an arrow back for three to five seconds before releasing it. If they hold it for eight, nine or 10 seconds, then they're doubting themselves. The longer an arrow is held, the more the muscles tighten, keeping you from having a smooth release."

Don't miss this: "The medal round in the team competition is exciting because of all the crowd noise and enthusiasm."

Finals: Sept. 17, 21
