Ramona, Calif. Volleyball Reis, 45, the coach at Poway High, guided the Titans to a defeat of El Camino High to win the 400th match of her career. In her 19 seasons at Poway, she has won 10 CIF championships and sent 49 graduates on to play at NCAA Division I schools.
Bangkok Golf Virada, 17, set an American Junior Golf Association 54-hole record by firing a 66-66-68 -- 200 to run away from the field at the Ping Myrtle Beach (S.C.) Junior Classic. Earlier she won the AJGA Taylor Made PineIsle Junior Classic, and she's been named an AJGA All-America as well.
Fort Wayne, Ind. Soccer Brough, a senior forward and a three-time NAIA All-America at St. Francis University in Fort Wayne, became the third NAIA woman player to score 100 career goals by getting two in the Lady Cougars' 8-0 win over Bethel College of Mishawaka, Ind.
Fairfield, N.J. Field Hockey Klein, a junior at the University of Connecticut, had six game-winning goals and 37 points in leading the Huskies to a school-record 18 straight victories and the No. 2 national ranking. A two-time All-Big East first-team selection, she had tallied 15 goals and seven assists during the run.
Cambridge, Ont. Cross-country Douma, a Villanova senior and a two-time All-America, outdistanced the field at the LaSalle Invitational to win her second straight race. With her teammates Kristen Nicolini (at LaSalle) and Ann McGranahan (at the Haverford Invitational) finishing second, the Wildcats won both team titles.
Cambridge, Ont. Cross-country O'Brien, 60, a secretary at an electric company, won four gold medals in the 60-64 age division at the U.S. masters long course championships. Her victories came in the 200-, 400-, 800- and 1,500-meter freestyle, events she has qualified to swim at next year's masters world championships.
