Megan Quann
Puyallup, Wash.
Swimming

Megan, 15, broke the American record in the 50-meter breaststroke with a time of 31.98, beating the previous mark of 32.06 set by Kristy Kowal last year. Quann also holds records for the 100 and 200 breaststrokes.


 
Ellannee Richardson
Gladstone, Ore.
Track and Field

Richardson, a freshman at Washington State, set a meet record in the heptathlon at the Junior National Championships with 5,600 points. Earlier this season she set an American junior record of 5,660 points at the Pac-10 Championships.


 
Terry Ann Roach
Phoenix
Cycling

Roach, 47, won the women's 2-km pursuit in the 45-49 age group at the Master's National Championships in 2:42.3, beating Jeanette Traver by 13.8 seconds. Roach also placed first in the 500-meter time trial and in the 3-km team pursuit.


 
Lori Grey
Seminole, Fla.
Tennis

Lori, a senior at Seminole High, was named Florida's Miss Tennis for winning the Class 5A singles and doubles titles for the second consecutive year. She finished with a career record of 50-0 and will play at Georgia next year.


 
Cheryl Gudinas
Lisle, Ill.
Racquetball

Gudinas, 32, won the women's open division of the National Singles Championships after placing second in '97 and third last year. Gudinas, seeded third, beat fourth-seed Laura Fenton of Troutdale, Ore., 15-14, 15-5 in the final.


 
Nicole Clouse
Bethlehem, Pa.
Speed Skating

Clouse, 22, the only woman in the mixed division, came in first in the 1,000-meter roller skating event, finishing in 2:14.94 at the Special Olympics World Games. She also won the 300-meter event with a time of 36.16 seconds.
