DANIELLE FOTOPOULOS , 23 [Forward] In 1993 Danielle Fotopoulos, then a high school junior in Orlando, made a resolution: She wasn't going to get knocked down anymore. So she started lifting weights seriously, and today she's the one doing the knocking. "People just bounce off me when I dribble," says the 5'11", 165-pound Fotopoulos. "Also, I can just put out my arm and hold people off." She can hold off opposing teams with her feet as well. Last fall she broke the women's NCAA record for career goals, which had previously belonged to her national squad teammates Mia Hamm and Tiffeny Milbrett. The 118th and final goal of Fotopoulos's collegiate career came on a free kick to lift Florida to a 1-0 victory over North Carolina in the 1998 NCAA championship game. Copyright © 1999 CNN/SI.
