Nilsmark hopes her second tour victory is a big one -- the Nabisco Dinah Shore, a major. John Biever

Born: Goteborg, Sweden, August 30, 1967

Residence: West Palm Beach, Fla.

Upcoming Event: Nabisco Dinah Shore, Mission Hills Country Club, Rancho Mirage, Calif., March 25-28, 1999

Worth Watching Because: Nilsmark is having her best season yet on the LPGA Tour. Going into the Dinah Shore, one of the LPGA's four majors, Nilsmark is ranked seventh on the LPGA money list with $126,725. In February, Nilsmark claimed her first LPGA victory at the Los Angeles Women's Championship, squeaking past Annika Sorenstam -- the player with the top-ranked winning percentage among all active LPGA and PGA Tour players -- in a sudden-death playoff.

In 1998 Nilsmark competed in 21 events and earned $137,505. Her best finishes, two sixth-place ties, came at the City of Hope Myrtle Beach Classic and the Mercury Titleholders Championship. Nilsmark tied for ninth at the LPGA Championship and finished in 10th place at the Women's British Open.

Prior to joining the LPGA Tour in October 1994, Nilsmark competed on the Women Professional Golfers' European Tour. She was also a member of the 1992, 1994, 1996 and 1998 European Solheim Cup teams. Combining experience with a hunger to win, Nilsmark is slowly but surely emerging as a powerful force on the course.

Greatest Success: Beating Sorenstam at the 1999 L.A. Women's Championship.

Quote/Unquote: "To beat Annika, you've got to have a little bit of luck." -- Nilsmark after Sorenstam missed a 3-foot putt on the first hole of the playoff in L.A.

Cool Fact: Nilsmark has a 1 1/2-year-old daughter named Tuva (translation: "piece of grass").
