Hometown: Villanova, Pa.

Birth date: May 11, 1977

Upcoming Event: NCAA Div. I Lacrosse quarterfinals, Saturday May 8, 1:00 pm, Ludwig Field, College Park, Maryland

Worth Watching Because: The Maryland junior tends goal for the top-ranked women's lacrosse team in the nation. Last Sunday the defending national champion and 1999 ACC champion Terps earned the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Maryland, which received a first-round bye, will host Georgetown in a quarterfinal matchup on Saturday.

Maryland wrapped up its regular season at home on May 1 with a 17-9 trouncing of Loyola to finish the year with a perfect 18-0 record -- extending the Terps' winning streak to 25 games and completing their third undefeated regular-season in school history. Kahoe, Maryland's co-captain and all-time saves leader, finished the regular season ranked fifth in the nation in save percentage (.629) and sixth in goals-against percentage (6.42).

Last season, as a sophomore, Kahoe was named to the NCAA all-tournament team after recording a career-high 21 saves against Virginia in the NCAA championship game -- five saves shy of the NCAA championship record. In 1996 she was named to the NCAA all-tournament team and was the only freshman to rank among the nation's top 10 in both goals against average and save percentage.

Kahoe, who is a criminology and criminal justice major, hopes to help Maryland lock up a fifth consecutive national title.

Greatest Success: Recording a career-high 21 saves in the 1998 NCAA championship game as Maryland beat Virginia 11-5.

Quote/Unquote: "We do as much as we can to help her, but she always seems to come up with big saves. That's why she's one of the best goalies in the country." --Maryland sophomore midfielder Courtney Martinez on Kahoe.

Cool Fact: Alex, a graduate of the Agnes Irwin School in Villanova, Pa., was a nationally-ranked prep squash player. She was No. 21 in the country in 1994 and No. 18 in 1993.
