Apolo Anton Ohno, Speed Skating
Where you've seen him: Being cut off by South Korea's Kim Dong-Sung in
the 1,500-meter short-track speed skating event in Salt Lake City -- and then
sporting a gold medal after Kim was disqualified. Ohno also took home a silver
medal in the 1,000-meter event, crawling over the finish line after a three-man
pileup on the final
corner.
On why so many women turn out to watch him skate: "Speed is
attractive, and short-track skating is gravity-defying. We are wearing
one-inch-thick blades when making those
turns."
