Kevin Phillips was also on target for Villa and coach David O'Leary said: "We were superior from the kick-off and in every department we were superior. It's nice to get the maximum points - we've had hard away games recently and we haven't been beaten." Midfielder Craig Gardner is set to sign a new contract that will tie him to Villa until 2009 and the teenager could make his first senior start at home to Newcastle United on Saturday. Earlier this season the two clubs tied 1-1 at St. James' Park. Villa are hoping that Eric Djemba-Djemba will have returned from the African Cup of Nations as Gavin McCann and James Milner are unavailable. Djemba-Djemba still had not appeared at Villa Park five days after Cameroon's exit from the competition.
