Bremen are matching Bayern game-by-game but need a little more to figure in the title race. On Saturday, they have the opportunity of putting Bayern under pressure for 24 hours is they can win their game against Kaiserslautern. That would leave them just five points behind and force Bayern to win against Nurnberg on Sunday to restore their lead. While two points were lost against Stuttgart, goalkeeper Andreas Reinke was the other major loss after he needed an operation to correct a fractured skull. Reinke will remain in hospital until Sunday under observation and his place in goal will be taken by ex-Kaiserslautern goalkeeper Tim Wiese. Wednesday was only the second time this season that Bremen failed to score, but against bottom-of-the-table Kaiserslautern, there should be ample shooting practice for Ivan Klasnic and Nelson Valdez.
