Empoli finally won their first game since the start of November as the beat bottom-of-the-table Lecce 2-1 at the Via del Mare stadium Wednesday evening. First-half goals by Sergio Almiron and Tavano, from the penalty spot, had put the Tuscans into a commanding position by half-time. Lecce midfielder Cristian Ledesma converted a penalty-kick in the 81st minute to pull a goal back for the hosts, but Empoli held out to bag all three points. Vittorio Tosto and Davide Moro both miss Sunday's game against Palermo through suspension. Empoli are undefeated at home in five previous league visits by Palermo, all in Serie B.
