United sets standard of excellence for MLS
When MLS was formed, the powers-that-be wanted to ensure that they didn't repeat the mistakes of the NASL, where the New York Cosmos dominated the league. In the New York area, at least, they succeeded. Instead, writes CNN/SI's Michael Lewis, a super-team was forged in the nation's capital in the form of D.C. United.
