One of the most recognizable soccer players in America, Cobi Jones was named U.S. Soccer's player of the year in 1998. He was also a finalist for the 1998 MVP award in Major League Soccer. Jones and the Los Angeles Galaxy will play D.C. United on Sunday in MLS Cup '99. As he prepares for the league's championship game, Jones is filing an MLS Cup diary for CNNSI.com.

My day started out early in the morning as I finished packing and made my way to Loyola Marymount University where we got a light training session in before flying out. It was a really good training session, because I think that guys could feel that we were getting close to leaving for Boston in preparation for MLS Cup.
We went straight to Los Angeles International Airport following the spirited training session. We were all excited to get going to the site of the Cup, because we were finally going down the final stretch of this nine-month season. Reality set in a little when we embarked on our six-hour flight to Boston. It was a full flight and I was unable to stretch out the limbs, but I was raring to go as soon as we got out of the plane and felt the cool air of the Northeast.
We got in kind of late, which was a little unfortunate, but I think that the players would rather have the time to train at home and get in late than to fly and then train. There have been a couple of times this year that we have been delayed at the airport, so it was important that we get off on the right foot.
Once we got to the hotel, we had just enough time to get a team meal. I was not really tired when we finished eating, so that gave me enough time to set up my Playstation. You know, we are going to be here for several days, so I needed some sort of entertainment, and you can't beat Playstation.
Well, we are finally in Boston, Massachusetts, and I am feeling really good right now. Nevertheless, I need to get some shuteye. Overall, this was a fulfilling day in which we relaxed, ate together and just got ready to enjoy the experience.
