WASHINGTON (AP) -- Jaime Moreno assisted on three first-half goals as D.C. United overcame a wet field to beat the Miami Fusion 3-1 Wednesday night for its sixth straight Major League Soccer victory.

Ben Olsen, John Maessner and Geoff Aunger scored for D.C., which swept the four-game season series from Miami.

United increased its lead over second-place Columbus in the Eastern Conference to nine points and prevented the Fusion from moving past idle Tampa Bay into third place.

Welton scored for the Fusion, which has dropped two in a row. Henry Gutierrez had his 13th assist, a Miami season record.

Four players were ejected when the team's played last Saturday and were suspended for Wednesday night's game. Miami was without defenders Leo Cullen and Jay Heaps and midfielder Nelson Vargas and D.C. played without striker Roy Lassiter, whose 16 goals and 40 points are tied for the league lead.

Miami, which had allowed only eight goals in 10 games and only five all season in the opening 10 minutes, surrendered two before the game was nine minutes old.

Olsen tucked a header beneath the crossbar in the third minute, and six minutes later Maessner banged in a rebound.

Welton snuck past two United defenders to cut the lead to 2-1 in the 23rd minute, but Aunger's long right-footed shot restored the two-goal advantage about three minutes before halftime.
