CHICAGO (AP) -- Dave Sarachan, an assistant at D.C. United, was hired Wednesday as a full-time assistant coach to Bruce Arena, the coach of the U.S. national team.
Sarachan, 45, had spent two seasons with D.C. United after nine seasons as head coach at Cornell, where he led the Big Red to a 64-63-16 record and NCAA tournament appearances in 1995 and '96.
D.C. United won its third MLS championship in four seasons by beating the Los Angeles Galaxy in MLS Cup '99.
Sarachan had been an assistant to Arena at the University of Virginia and D.C. United.
