FOXBORO, Massachusetts (Ticker) -- Looking to recapture the form which catapulted them into the Western Division lead, the San Jose Earthquakes will try to end their two-game losing streak on Wednesday, when they visit the New England Revolution. This match, which concludes a three-game road trip for the Earthquakes, was rescheduled from June 30, when severe thunderstorms forced its postponement. Despite registering 12 more second-half shots than their opponents on Saturday, the Earthquakes extended their road winless streak to four games (0-3-1) after suffering a 2-0 road defeat at the hands of the Tampa Bay Mutiny. "We can't get in a trend where we say, 'We played well, but we got unlucky,'" Earthquakes coach Frank Yallop said after the Tampa Bay match. "We have to put away our chances when we have them and win games like tonight's." In their last match before the All-Star break on July 21, the Eathquakes allowed a goal with 12 minutes left to lose at Columbus1, 2-1. The late strike represented just the fifth goal San Jose has conceded in the final 15 minutes of a league match. That is the lowest figure in MLS this season. Two of those five goals were scored against the Earthquakes by the Revolution on May 5, when the clubs clashed at Spartan Stadium. San Jose nearly wasted a three-goal advantage, allowing a pair in the final three minutes, but managed to hold on for a 3-2 win over New England. The Revolution will need to be wary of San Jose's All-Star midfielder Manny Lagos, who has tallied a team-leading three game-winning goals and also collected two game-winning assists this season. As they seek revenge for that May defeat, the Revolution likely will be inspired by their performance on Saturday. New England broke its franchise mark for goals in a single MLS game, routing the Dallas Burn, 5-1. The Revolution had netted just 24 goals in their 20 previous matches this season. With the triumph, the Revolution moved into ninth place in the MLS Cup playoff race. They trail the Burn by only two points for the final postseason berth with seven games left. Saturday's match marked the opener of New England's longest homestand of the season, spaning four games in 15 games. The Revolution are 5-3-2 at Foxboro Stadium so far this season. New England will continue to depend on All-Star midfielder Cate to convert and create scoring opportunities. The Brazilian leads the Revolution with seven goals and six assists. The Revolution won both home matches with the Earthquakes last season, 2-1 on May 6, 2000 and 3-0 on June 10, 2000. However, San Jose leads the all-time series with New England, 8-6-1.
