KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) -- The Kansas City Wizards forced a decisive third game in their first-round playoff series with a 4-1 rout of the top-seeded Los Angeles Galaxy as Eric Quill and Preki each had a goal and an assist.

Game Three will be Wednesday at the Rose Bowl.

Kansas City exploited a loose Galaxy defense in the first half, with Igor Simutenkov putting the Wizards on top in the 19th minute. He carried to the top of the box before ripping an 18-yard shot past diving goalkeeper Kevin Hartman.

The Wizards again took advantage of a disorganized defense in the 37th minute. Defender Peter Vermes slipped the ball to Eric Quill near the center of the box and he struck quickly to double Kansas City's lead.

Preki made it 3-0 in the 70th minute, using the defensive wall to screen Hartman on a free kick restart. His shot curled to the near post and dropped under the 'keeper's hand.

As the Wizards prepared for the ensuing restart, midfielder Chris Albright seized the opportunity to get Los Angeles on the board. Albright took the opening kickoff and sent a long, soaring shot on goal. As Tony Meola walked back to his goal line with his back to the play, the ball settled into the unguarded net.

The Wizards ended any chance of a comeback moments later as Quill stripped a defender along the left sideline, quickly pushing the ball forward. Dario Fabbro raced onto it, jumping into a breakaway rush before beating Hartman to the far post.
