SOUTHLAKE, Texas (Ticker) -- Joselito Vaca scored a goal and set up two others as the Dallas Burn rallied for a 3-2 victory over the Kansas City Wizards, their first win in a month. Vaca tied the game in the first half with his second goal of the season, then positioned teammates Brad Davis and Edward Johnson for tallies 17 minutes apart in the second half. The Burn (4-12-4, 16 points) hung on in the final 15 minutes as the Wizards (7-6-7, 28 points) scored once but could not get the equalizer. Kansas City scored for the first time in 338 minutes but saw its winless streak extended to four matches. Four minutes after Preki's penalty kick gave the Wizards the lead, Vaca tied it in the 30th minute - the Burn's first goal in 370 minutes since July 19. Davis scored his fourth goal of the season on a penalty kick and Johnson struck for the first time this year as he converted a giveaway. Preki helped set up Francisco Gomez in the 84th minute, but the Wizards did not score again. |
