CARSON, California (Ticker) -- Forward John Wolyniec scored in the 86th minute as the MetroStars rallied for a 1-1 tie against the Los Angeles Galaxy.

The contest marked the the league-leading 10th overtime match for the MetroStars and eighth extra session in their last nine games.

Clint Mathis came close to tying the contest when his shot hit the crossbar. But the ball caromed to Wolyniec, who put the rebound past Kevin Hartman for his third goal of the season.

The MetorStars fell two points behind first-place Chicago in the Eastern Conference.

Diego Serna scored his second goal of the season in the 13th minute for Los Angeles, which is unbeaten in its last three games (2-0-1).
