Late goal gives U.S. tie with Jamaica

KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) -- Debutante Chris Albright scored with his first touch Wednesday night, and a 10-man United States rallied for a 2-2 draw with Jamaica in an international friendly.

Replacement David Johnson capitalized on a defensive error to give Jamaica a 2-1 lead in the 79th minute. The Americans' hopes were further dashed less than a minute later when Chicago Fire forward Ante Razov was ejected for protesting a Jamaican foul.

But the 19-year-old Albright, who only signed with U.S. Major League Soccer in July and was assigned to InterAmerican Cup champion D.C. United, scored less than two minutes after entering the game for Henry Gutierrez.

Albright put in a rebound from six yards after Jamaica keeper Aaron Lawrence had blocked Ben Olsen, who put in a shot off a cross from Eddie Lewis.

"We came in here and played a very tough opponent, so we're obviously happy with the effort of our team today," U.S. coach Bruce Arena said.

Jason Kreis gave the Americans the lead in the fifth minute when Ian Goodison's clearing attempt deflected off Cayman Islands referee Godfrey Bowen and right to the foot of Kreis.

The Dallas Burn star spun and put a right-footed shot into the left corner from 8 meters.

Jamaica, 0-4-5 against the United States, tied it in the 14th minute on Fabian Davis' penalty after Eddie Pope had fouled Ricardo Fuller.

The game was marred by periods of rough play and saw three players -- two Americans and one Jamaican -- being cautioned by Bowen.

The Americans had the better opportunities to take the lead in the second-half. Substitute Josh Wolff missed two good chances within two minutes.

In addition to Albright, six other American players earned their first international appearance in the game-Steve Cherundolo, Henry Gutierrez, Kevin Hartman, Wolff, Chad McCarty and Billy Walsh.

Jamaica is unbeaten in 41 home games since losing to the United States on Nov. 22, 1994.

In the evening's curtain raiser, the U.S. Under-17 team defeated their Jamaican counterparts 4-0, behind goals from four different players: Landon Donovan, Alex Yi, DaMarcus Beasley and Abe Thompson.
