CHICAGO (AP) -- Goalkeeper Briana Scurry, defender Carla Overbeck and midfielder Michelle Akers have recovered from injuries and were among 20 players selected Friday to play for the U.S. women's team on a three-week pre-Olympic tour of Europe.

Scurry, who appears to have lost her starting job to Siri Mullinix, has been sidelined by severe shin splints. Overbeck is coming off knee surgery and Akers off shoulder surgery.

The Americans, preparing to defend their Olympic gold medal in September, will play three games in Germany as part of a tournament celebrating the 100th anniversary of the governing body of Germany soccer, playing Norway on July 16 in Osnabrueck, China on July 19 in Gottingen and Germany on July 22 in Braunschweig.

Norway and China are first-round opponents of the Americans at the Sydney Games along with Nigeria. The Americans and Norwegians will have met six times this year before the Olympics.

The U.S. team then goes to Norway for exhibition games July 27 in Tromso and July 30 in Oslo. The first game starts at 10:30 p.m. local time (4:40 p.m. EDT), but lights won't be needed because of the midnight sun -- Tromso is about 115 miles north of the Arctic Circle.
