CHICAGO (AP) -- Seven players from the U.S. Olympic soccer team were named to the U.S. women's national team on Tuesday.

Tiffeny Milbrett, Christie Pearce, Kate Sobrero, Siri Mullinix, Michelle French, Lorrie Fair and Nikki Serlenga will be among the 18-member U.S. national team traveling to China in mid-January to face that country's powerful national team.

The Olympic veterans give the national team experience in international play, said coach April Heinrichs.

The remainder of the team is made up of five collegiate players and six players who were high picks in the recent Women's United Soccer Association player draft.

The veteran players, all under the age of 24 except Milbrett, will lead the first trip by an American team to China since 1998.

One of the college players is All-American midfielder Aleisha Cramer, who just finished her freshman season at Brigham Young University.

Cramer led the youth national team to the Nordic Cup championship last summer in Germany. She was the third youngest player ever to make the U.S. national team in 1998 when she was 16 years old.

Heinrichs also named Nebraska's Jenny Benson, Meredith Florance from North Carolina and three-time All-American midfielder Mary-Frances Monroe from UConn.

Florance scored 28 goals her senior season and was impressive in the NCAA Championship.

The U.S. team departs for China on Jan. 7. They play Jan. 11 and Jan. 14 in China, and return Jan. 15.
