French dominate cup all-star lineup

YOKOHAMA, Japan (AP) -- Five French players were named to the all-star team of the Confederations Cup by FIFA observers.

The list of the tournament's top 11 players and seven substitutes was released Sunday, before the final between world champion France and co-host Japan.

On the starting squad were French defenders Marcel Desailly and Bixente Lizarazu, striker Sylvain Wiltford and midfielders Patrick Vieira and Robert Pires.

Completing the top 11 were Brazilian midfielder Ramon and defenders Edmilson and Ze Maria, Japanese goalie Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi and Cameroon striker Samuel Etoo.

The bench included Australian goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer and midfielder Paul Okon; South Korean strikers Sun Hong Hwang and Ki Hyeon Seol; Canadian midfielder Jim Brennan, Japanese defender Naoki Matsuda and Cameroon midfielder Salomon Olembe.
