ACCRA (Reuters) -- Ghana's veteran coach Fred Osam- Duodu will be one of two at this month's African Nations Cup finals who have previous experience of winning the continental championship.

Osam-Duodu was coach when Ghana won the Nations Cup at home way back in 1978 but is not given much chance of being able to repeat his past success this time round.

The other previous winner is Mahmoud Al Gohari, who coached the victorious Egyptian side four years ago.

Osam-Duodu was appointed as caretaker coach of the Ghanaian side after the departure of the Italian Guiseppe Dossena in August, 2000, but stood down at the beginning of last year when Jones Attuquayefio was appointed.

Attuquayefio lasted just four months in the job before resigning, with Osam-Duodu appointed caretaker again while the Ghana Football Association sought to find a high-profile foreigner to take charge.

Those plans were later abandoned when there was a change of leadership in the Ghanaian federation, leaving Osam-Duodu to continue in charge as Ghana attempt to rebuild their team for the future.
