George and George are best for Liberia

MONROVIA (Reuters) -- Liberia's coach Dominic Vava George lives in the shadow of his best known player George Weah, who is also technically his boss.

George is the coach of the Liberian side but Weah serves as the technical director of the Liberia team, in theory in charge of all the support staff surrounding the side.

It effectively means that the Liberian side is coached by committee, with Weah directing tactics and substitutions from his position the field and Vava George doing the same from his position on the bench.

Vava George, 54, is a former Liberian international and coach of the Monrovia club Mighty Barolle, who he took to the domestic league title in 2000.

He has been coach of the team since mid-2000, when he took over from Kadalah Kromoh and has seen Liberia win 10 of his 19 matches in charge of the side.
