LONDON (AP) -- Ruud van Nistelrooy scored two more goals as Manchester United won 4-1 against Sunderland at Old Trafford on Saturday to stretch its league lead to two points over Newcastle and three over Arsenal.

Newcastle, with two goals from captain Alan Shearer, defeated Bolton 3-2 at home in St. James' Park. Arsenal blew a 1-0 lead and had to settle for a 1-1 draw at home against Southampton.

The Gunners are unbeaten away this season but have won only five of 12 home league matches, which is why they are not leading the league. In the only bright note, the Gunners scored in their 26th straight match to set a league record.

Liverpool, which played Sunday at Leeds, stayed in fourth place.

Inconsistent Chelsea rallied twice to beat last-place Leicester 3-2 and move into fifth place with 43 points. Leicester continued on the road to relegation with only 17 points.

Man United has 51 points atop the standings followed by Newcastle (49), Arsenal (48), Liverpool (46), Chelsea (43) and Leeds (42).

John Gregroy, appointed Wednesday as Derby's manager after quitting at Aston Villa, picked up a 1-0 victory over Tottenham in his first game on the bench at Pride Park with Lee Morris scoring just before halftime.

Gregory, who left Villa after falling out with owner Doug Ellis, is the third manager this season at Derby following Jim Smith and Colin Todd. The victory improved 19th-place Derby to 22 points, five above Leicester. Tottenham stayed on 32 points.

"There was not much chance to get to know each other but we laid down a few ground rules," Gregory said. "I'm absolutely delighted for everyone at the club. It's been a traumatic month or so and to get a positive result and a clean sheet was very pleasing."

In other Premier League games on Saturday, Ipswich kept winning, defeating Everton 2-1 at Goodison Park. Fulham and managerless Aston Villa played at 0-0 draw in London. West Ham won 2-0 at home against fading Blackburn.

On Sunday, Liverpool played at Leeds with Robbie Fowler playing against his old side for the first time. In the day's other match, Charlton played at Middlesbrough.

In England's first division, Wolves won 2-1 at home against Rotherham to move within three points of league-leading Manchester City. Man City has 61 with Wolves on 58. Millwall drew 2-2 at home against Walsall and has 54 points, the same as West Brom. Man City played Sunday at Wimbledon and West Brom played at Burnley.

In another division-one match, Crewe's game at Birmingham was called off 10 minutes in the second half because of a waterlogged field. The game was scoreless.

In other division-one games: Coventry 1, Gillingham 2; Grimsby 0, Bradford 1; Portsmouth 4, Barnsley 4; Sheffield Wednesday 1, Crystal Palace 3; Stockport 1, Nottingham Forest 3.

In Scotland's Premier League, Rangers won at home 2-1 over Dundee to improve to 61 points -- 12 behind Celtic. Celtic played late Saturday at Hibernian.

In other Scottish results: Dundee United 0, Kilmarnock 2; Dunfermline 1, Hearts 1; Motherwell 1, Livingston 2; St. Johnstone 0, Aberdeen 1.
