Penpix of Borussia Dortmund squad Posted: Monday May 06, 2002 12:56 PMBERLIN (Reuters) - Pen-pictures of Borussia Dortmund players likely to be in the squad for the UEFA Cup final against Feyenoord on Wednesday: Goalkeepers:Jens Lehman, Age 32. Germany's number two is not known for his diplomatic behaviour or temperament. Made an embarrassing blunder in a dull 1-1 draw with Switzerland ahead of Euro 2000, but nobody questions his class. Left Schalke 04 for AC Milan after the Gelsenkirchen club won the UEFA Cup in 1997. Stayed only one season in Italy, failing to secure a spot in the starting line-up, and joined Dortmund in 1998. Philipp Laux, 29. Not featured in Dortmund's European campaign, although has turned out for some of the latter stages of the Bundesliga as Lehmann was suspended for four matches. Defenders:Joerg Heinrich, 32. Returned to Dortmund in 2000 after two seasons with Fiorentina. Still quick at 32 and able to play in both defence and midfield and on either side. Missed much of first half of season due to injury. Suspected broken nose could yet keep him out of the final. Christian Woerns, 29. Turns 30 two days after the final. Improved since wretched performance in Germany's 5-1 loss to England when he failed to pick up Michael Owen and Emile Heskey. Juergen Kohler, 36. Stalwart in the Dortmund side in the twilight of his career, which has included 105 German caps. Part of Champions League winning side of 1997. Won the German league with Bayern before transferring to Juventus. Played his last Bundesliga match in Saturday's 2-1 win over Werder Bremen that sealed Dortmund's sixth league title. Wednesday's final will be his last match, if he plays. With Dortmund since 1995. Dede, 24. Dortmund's Mr Reliable at left back. Joined in 1998. Dangerous down the flank and, like is Brazilian compatriots, willing to dribble past opponents. Lives with his brother and cousin in Germany. Expected to be fit despite injuring his knee in last week's semi-final defeat against Milan AC. Midfielders:Evanilson, 26. One of Dortmund's four Brazilians, plays on the right, in defence or in midfield. Fabulous ball control and capable of dribbling forward. Arrived in Ruhr Valley club in 1999. Stefan Reuter, 35. The team's skipper and one of the Bundesliga's most experienced players with 400 league appearances. Won German championship with Bayern Munich in 1989 and 1990 before, like Kohler, heading to Juventus. Came to Dortmund in 1992. Quiet, but commanding presence in the middle. Sunday Oliseh, 27. Nigerian formerly with Ajax Amsterdam and Juventus. Joined Dortmund in 2000. The battling defensive midfielder was dumped as Nigerian captain after the African Nations Cup and appears unlikely to head to the World Cup. Tomas Rosicky, 21. Small Czech playmaker who despite his youth can command the midfield, with precisely timed through one-twos and long balls. Has made an impression since his arrival in January 2001 from Sparta Prague for a then Bundesliga record transfer fee. Links particularly well with compatriot Koller and takes free kicks and corners. Ewerthon, 20. Impressive against AC Milan in first leg, supplying Amoroso with cross for compatriot's his third goal. Only arrived at Dortmund in September and has become a danger on the right flank. Can shoot from distance too. Hit the winner in Saturday's 2-1 win over Werder after coming on as a substitute. Lars Ricken, 25. Despite his relative youth, one of four survivors from the side that beat Juventus 3-1 in the Champions League Final in 1997. Ricken scored Dortmund's final goal in that game. Is a threat going forward. Miroslav Stevic, 32. The Yugoslav arrived from rivals TSV 1860 Munich in January 1999. Midfield battler and willing to take free kicks and corners. Played more as a substitute, particularly in European competition. David Odonkor, 18. Came on in away leg against Sloban Liberec. Product of a German mother and Ghanaian father. Will not start on Wednesday, but has shown promise in his first games this season. One for the future. Strikers:Jan Koller, 29. Giant Czech striker, at 2.02 meters. Arrived at Dortmund from Belgian side Anderlecht during Germans' big spending last year. Often the link-man for Dortmund's attacks, holding off defenders and feeding team mates running from midfield. Scored against Werder on Saturday, restoring Dortmund's hopes by leveling the match at 1-1 just before halftime. Marcio Amoroso, 27. Scored hattrick in semifinal first leg against AC Milan which effectively secured Dortmund's passage. Amoroso has seven goals from Dortmund's UEFA Cup campaign. Finished joint top scorer in the Bundesliga with 18 goals. However, blows hot and cold and has come under stick when underperforming. Giuseppe Reina, 30. German, despite his first name. In third season at Dortmund. Very fast, but unlikely to make it to the pitch on Wednesday. Otto Addo, 26. Son of Ghanaian parents born in Hamburg. Tall and capable of dribbling and capable of playing on either flank. Out for half a year, made successful comeback in January.
