Copa Libertadores Roundup Gimnasia routs Alianza Lima, 5-1; Boca beat Colo ColoPosted: Thursday February 27, 2003 5:51 AMBUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) -- Claudio Enria scored two goals as Argentina's Gimnasia routed Alianza Lima of Peru 5-1 Wednesday to take the lead in Group 4 of the Copa Libertadores championship. The Argentines wasted little time in pressuring Alianza, attacking from the outset and finding the back of the net in the 8th minute when Esteban Gonzalez broke through the defense to score the first of Gimnasia's five goals in the first half. In other Libertadores matches, Argentina's Boca Juniors beat Colo Colo of Chile 2-1, Peru's Universitario beat Oriente Petrolero of Bolivia 2-0 and Ecaudor's El Nacional held Colombia's America de Cali to take a 1-1 draw. Enria extended Gimnasia's lead in the 31st and the Argentinians closed out the first half scoring three goals in three minutes. Lucas Lobos notched the team's third in the 40th, followed by Enria -- his second -- in the 42nd, Roberto Sosa scored a minute later. It was the first home win for Gimnasia in Copa Libertadores competition. Gimnasia took over the top spot in Group 4 with four points. Paraguay's Olimpia and Cobreloa of Chile trail with two points each, followed by Alianza with one. In Santiago, Chile, Alfredo Moreno scored one goal in each half to lead Boca Juniors Colo Colo. With Ezequiel Gonzalez giving Boca control of the midfield, Moreno put the team ahead on a 38th-minute penalty kick after goalkeeper Eduardo Lobos fouled Miguel Caneo. Marecelo Espina then equalized in the 75th minute, also on a penalty kick, after Boca 'keeper Roberto Abbonzanzieri fouled veteran striker Ivan Zamorano. With two minutes to go, Moreno scored the winner from close range on a pass from Marcelo Delgado. Boca is the sole leader in Group 7 with six points from two games, while Barcelona of Ecuador has three in one. Colo Colo, after two games, and Independiente of Colombia, after one, have no points. An 87th-minute header from America de Cali's Moreno stole El Nacional's hopes of victory at Quito, Ecuador. El Nacional's Grueso scored the opening goal with a header in the 47th minute. Both players entered as well-timed substitutions. The outcome leaves the two teams tied for last place in Group 3 with 1 point each. Brazil's Santos remains on top with 6 points, followed by 12 de Octubre of Paraguay with 3. El Nacional next faces Santos at home on March 12. America de Cali next meets 12 de Octubre in Cali on March 4. At Lima, Peru, Universitario's Artigas opened the scoring off a penalty kick in the 30th minute. Huaman extended Peruvian team's lead with a powerful shot in the 67th minute. The two clubs ran a close match in the first period, but the Peruvians dominated play in the second. The win moves Universitario to first place in Group 4, where they share the top spot with Argentina's Racing Club, each with 4 points. Oriente Petrolero and Uruguay's trail with 0 points each. Oriente Petrolero next faces Nacional in Santa Cruz on March 6, while Universitario takes on Nacional on March 19 in Montevideo.
