Bosnia scores shock win over Denmark

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) -- Elvir Baljic scored one and set up another as Bosnia-Herzegovina stunned Denmark 2-0 in a European Championship qualifying match Wednesday.

Denmark started out best but it was the guests who opened the score in the 22nd minute. Baljic played a long pass up front to Sergej Barbarez, who was alone with goalkeeper Thomas Soerensen as the Danish offside trap failed and he scored easily.

Just seven minutes later, Baljic made it 2-0 as he connected on a cross from the right with a close range volley.

Denmark had most of the position throughout the match but was unable to convert that into goals, disappointing most of the 30,845 fans at the Parken stadium.

Most Danish chances fell to Ebbe Sand, who had one promising header in the first half and two in the second, but Bosnian 'keeper Kennan Hasagic caught all three.

A big chance also fell to Jon Dahl Tomasson in the 80th minute but his shot went over the bar.

The Bosnians played with great commitment and had a few counter attacks toward the end but were unable to increase the score.

It was Denmark's first home defeat in a qualifying match in four years.

Slovakian referee Anton Stredek booked Zlatan Bajramovic and Bulend Biscevic of Bosnia and Morten Wieghorst of Denmark.

Lineups:

Denmark: Thomas Soerensen; Niclas Jensen (Per Frandsen, 80), Marin Albrechtsen, Rene Henriksen, Jan Michaelsen; Thomas Gravesen, Claus Jensen (Morten Wieghorst, 59); Martin Joergensen, Jon Dahl Tomasson (Soeren Berg, 84), Dennis Rommedahl; Ebbe Sand.

Bosnia-Herzegovina: Kennan Hasagic; Bulend Biscevic, Muhamed Konjic, Mirsad Hibic, Vedin Music; Mirsad Beslija (Sinisa Mulina, 83), Zlatan Bajramovic, Dzemal Berberovic, Mirko Hrgovic (Vladan Grujic, 67), Sergej Barbarez; Elvir Baljic (Dragan Blatnjak, 77).
