ISTANBUL (Reuters) -- Turkish goalkeeper Rustu Recber says he still plans to bow out of top class football in his home country after the election of Joan Laporta as Barcelona president sealed his transfer to Spain.

Rustu agreed the deal earlier this month with Laporta who was elected on Sunday following a pledge to attempt to bring England captain David Beckham to the club.

"My dream has always been to play for a big European team, and now I'm making it come true. I will work to represent Turkish football and Turkish goalkeepers in the best possible way," Anatolian news agency quoted him saying.

The Turkey national keeper added that he envisaged returning to Turkish club Fenerbahce after a stint at Barcelona.

"I'm 29, 30 now. Goalkeepers can play at world class levels even up to 35. What I'd like is to come back and retire from football at Fenerbahce after wearing the Barcelona colors."
