DOHA, Qatar (AP) -- Winger Nene has arrived in Qatar ahead of his expected move from Paris Saint-Germain to the Gulf club Al Gharafa.

The Qatar Stars League says on Tuesday that Nene was greeted by fans at the airport and was whisked off to a hospital for a medical.

Nene says he's reached an agreement with Al Gharafa after failing to secure a return to Brazil, adding "I don't know if people will understand. I just thought about my future and secured it for my family.''

The 31-year-old Brazilian was the French league's joint top scorer with 21 goals last season, but fell out of favor this season with coach Carlo Ancelotti and sporting director Leonardo.

Al Gharafa is fifth in the 12-team domestic league.
