LONDON (AP) -- Ashley Cole says he has extended his Chelsea career into an eighth season because the London club's enduring hunger to chase success matches his own ambitions.

Chelsea said on Tuesday that the England left back, who has made 293 appearances since joining from Arsenal in 2006, has signed a one-year contract extension that will take him through to the end of next season.

The 32-year-old Cole says he has "been able to fulfill nearly all my ambitions at Chelsea .... you never lose that hunger.''

Having won every major honor with Chelsea, Cole says he wanted to stay "because we are always fighting and challenging for trophies. That desire and the will to want to win things have not gone.''
