WEST BROMWICH, England (AP) -- Gareth Bale added another special goal to his collection by smashing home a second-half winner in Tottenham's 1-0 victory over 10-man West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League on Sunday.

Goran Popov's 48th-minute sending-off for apparent spitting in the direction of Spurs defender Kyle Walker left West Brom a man down for most of the second half, and Bale made the hosts pay by scoring from outside the area in the 68th.

Tottenham moved within a point of third-place Chelsea in the fight for the remaining Champions League spots behind the Manchester clubs.

Bale took his tally for the campaign to 11 goals, with his latest coming five days after a spectacular solo goal to salvage a 1-1 draw at Norwich.

Spurs lost Jermain Defoe to injury in the first half.
