Salva Ballesta's goal with 20 minutes remaining was the difference for the Andalucian side. Malaga ended a 443-minute scoreless drought in front of the home fans at the Rosaleda Stadium when Litos scored in the 30th minute. The victory was the first for Manuel Hierro, who made his debut on the Malaga bench. Hierro is the brother of Spanish international- legend Fernando Hierro. Midfielder Juan Rodriguez has been linked with a possible move to Deportivo La Coruna this summer. Hierro rewarded his players with two days of rest this week. Malaga travels north to Vitoria this weekend to take on Alaves. The two clubs played to a scoreless draw in Malaga earlier this season. Malaga has just two points in its last seven away matches.
