ATLANTA (CNNSI.com) -- The 2002 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup reaches its final eight as three of the four quarterfinal games take place on Wednesday.

In the marquee matchup, last year's Open Cup champion Los Angeles Galaxy will travel to take on the defending MLS champion San Jose Earthquakes live on Fox Sports World (FSW) and Fox Sports World Espaņol (FSWE) from Spartan Stadium at 10 p.m. ET.

The Galaxy-Earthquakes matchup marks the third consecutive year that the two MLS rivals will be meeting in the Open Cup quarterfinals. L.A. has twice eliminated San Jose from the Open Cup, winning 10-9 on penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw in 2001 and downing the Quakes 2-0 in 2000.

San Jose got a measure of revenge for those two defeats, though, by beating L.A. in overtime to claim the 2001 MLS Cup.

In other quarterfinal matches set for Wednesday, the NY/NJ MetroStars will host the Columbus Crew at the Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale, N.Y., at 9:15 p.m. ET, while the Colorado Rapids travel to meet the Dallas Burn at the Cotton Bowl at 7:30 p.m. CT.

Rounding out the quarterfinals will be the MLS' Kansas City Wizards visiting the last remaining A-League squad, the Milwaukee Rampage, at the Rampage Sports Complex in Franklin, Wis., on August 24. The Rampage-Wizards match was originally slated for August 7, but was rescheduled for August 24 in order to accommodate the Wizards participation in the CONCACAF Champions Cup semifinals.

FSW and FSWE will also broadcast both Open Cup semifinal matches, set for Sept. 3 and 10, and the Open Cup final on Oct. 26 or 27.
