Valencia Valencia will add the European Cup to their former UEFA and Cup Winners' Cup triumphs. In spite of dismissing the powerful Lazio and Barcelona handily, the vast majority of people will still perceive them as underdogs against Real Madrid. That plays into Valencia's hands once again, allowing Mendietta's maulers to slay one more giant. |
| Terry Baddoo, CNN World Sport anchor |
Real Madrid Real Madrid will crown its 11th European Cup final with an 8th win because it believes it is belongs at the top of the tree. In contrast to its domestic campaign, Real has played with confidence and conviction in the Champions League. Real proved in beating Man United in the quarters and Bayern Munich in the semis that it has the character to go with the obvious talent. A Valencia win would complete their fairystory, but Real's experience on the big stage will decide. |
| Gabriele Marcotti, CNNSI.com |
Real Madrid Kily Gonzalez will miss the suspended Amedeo Carboni's overlapping runs, and that will hurt Valencia's width on the counterattack. If Real scores in the first half -- and it has plenty of deadball firepower to unlock any kind of massed defense -- it will be curtains for Valencia.
