| Profile |
| Deschamps joined Chelsea from Juventus for £3million in the summer of 1999 and has quickly stamped his authority on English football. He was captain of Marseille's European Cup winning side and gained worldwide fame as the captain of France during their triumphant World Cup in 1998.
Didier also helped Juventus to two Serie A titles in three seasons, before being allowed to leave by new coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Deschamps often undertakes the fetching and carrying that holds any side together and, if sometimes unnoticed by the spectators, is a precious asset to any side. Took the honour of France's most-capped footballer when he earned his 84th cap in the 0-0 draw with Ukraine to break Manuel Amoros' record and looks set to be the first Frenchman to break the 100-cap mark in the very near future.
