| Bordeaux midfielder Micoud has drawn many comparisons with former French star Eric Cantona,
which even include the famous turned-up collars on his shirt.
He has broken into the French national team in the last year and has impressed in a role
just behind the strikers.
Micoud's skills were one of the chief reasons for Bordeux's championship-winning season in
1998/99, as he provided countless chances for strikers Lilian Laslandes and Sylvain
Wiltord.
His main problem in establishing himself is the presence of Zinedine Zidane in the same
position, but Micoud offers coach Lemerre a decent alternative to the Juventus star. Has
yet to score for Les Bleus and did not feature in any of the qualifiers for Euro 2000.
