| A veteran of a decade of international football and over 80 caps, Blanc is still one of the most highly-rated sweepers in the game. Guided France to the final of the 1998 World Cup, but suffered the heartbreak of missing the final after being sent off in the semi-final win over Croatia.
He is currently in his second spell in Serie A, this time with Internazionale, after an earlier spell with Napoli in the early-90s. He also enjoyed a season with Barcelona in 1996/97, before returning to France to play for Marseille.
Blanc had started his career with Montpellier and made his international debut against the Republic of Ireland in 1989, and his partnership with Marcel Desailly will be the key to French success again this summer.
