SINGAPORE (AP) -- Mohd Noh Alam Shah drove home an 85th-minute equalizer, bringing Singapore from behind to tie match favorite Kuwait 1-1 in an Asian Group 4 World Cup qualifier Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, Bahrain beat Kyrgyzstan 1-0 in another qualifying match.

Kuwait out-finessed Singapore during most of their game, with unmarked Bashar Abdulaziz scoring on a clean shot from the edge of the box after collecting a pass from Naser Alothman in the 61st minute.

But Alam Shah put the home crowd of 5,000 into a frenzy with a solo drive from midfield to tie the score.

In the other match, Bahrain's Yusuf A'Amer Al Sadi headed in a pass from teammate Sayed Mahmood Jalal in the 86th minute to secure a narrow victory for his team.

Kyrgyzstan's Ivanov Sergey was carried off the field late in the second half after knocking heads with Bahrain's captain Khamis Eid Rafia as both went after a high ball.

A relentless monsoon downpour soaked the pitch throughout both games, the third and fourth matches of the Asian Group 4 World Cup qualifiers series at Singapore's National Stadium.

In the first two games of the series Saturday, Kyrgyzstan shocked favored Singapore by heading in a free kick in the 82nd minute for a 1-0 win.

Kuwait, widely expected to win Group 4, beat Bahrain 2-1 in the first game Saturday.

After Tuesday's games, Kuwait leads the group with 4 points, Bahrain and Kyrgyzstan each have 3 and Singapore 1.

The four teams will meet in Kuwait on Feb. 21, 24 and 27 for the second leg of qualifying matches.
