To qualify, they came from behind to earn a 3-1 aggregate playoff series victory over Australia (winning 3-0 at home, after losing 1-0 on the road).... Won the first two World Cups they entered (in 1930 and 1950, which included an upset of host Brazil in the final game).... The last time the U.S. played Uruguay, the match was abandoned with less than 10 minutes remaining when a torrential storm hit the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.
