89' - Lee Carsley replaces Mark Kinsella for Ireland. 
87' - Goal Ireland. Damien Duff rips a shot from the left side of the area. Al-Deayea mishandles it, and the ball leaks inside the near post. 
83' - Germany has taken a 2-0 lead over Cameroon in the other Group E match. Ireland appears a lock for the second round.

55' - Germany has taken a 1-0 lead over Cameroon in the other Group E match, meaning Ireland would advance if the scores in both matches hold up. 
54' - Keane shoots from a tough angle straight into the chest of Mohammed Al-Deayea. 
49' - Robbie Keane takes a pass from Damien Duff with his back to the goal in the middle of the area. Keane turns and fires a shot wide of the right post.

In the other Group E matchup, Germany and Cameroon played a scoreless first half, and Germany is down to 10 men after Carsten Ramelow was sent off with his second yellow card. 45'+2 - Halftime whistle blows. Following the early goal, Ireland seemed to relax a bit, allowing Saudi Arabia to win the possession battle and create several scoring chances.  
43' - Mohammed Al-Jahani finds plenty of space on the right side, dribbles in and fires a shot to the near post. Shay Given is up to the challenge and makes the save. 
40' - Gary Kelly with a run down the right side. Mohammed Al-Deayea grabs his cross before it can find the head of an open Kevin Kilbane at the far post. 
39' - Nawaf Al-Temyat shoots wide left. 
31' - Gary Breen sends a ball across the goalmouth and wide of the far post. 
30' - Matt Holland puts a header over the crossbar on an Ian Harte free kick. 
27' - Confusion in the Irish box before Given dives on a loose ball. 
22' - Abdulaziz Al-Khathran tries a shot from 25 yards. It is struck with plenty of weight and has a bit of a bend to it, but the distance gives Given plenty of time to react and make the save. 
18' - Kevin Kilbane's hopeful shot easily saved by Al-Deayea. 
17' - Ireland's Damien Duff again causes trouble for Saudi Arabia on the left wing, but goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Deayea eventually gains control of a loose ball in the box. 
15' - Saudi Arabia puts together a solid buildup on the left side, but Shay Given easily handles the cross. 
13' - Ireland continues to control the bulk of possession, searching for the second goal that would put them through to the second round.  
7' - Goal Ireland. Robbie Keane cracks a volley from the penalty spot. Gary Kelly set him up with a cross from the right wing following a looping diagonal ball from midfield.
