Cameroon's Foe joins Manchester City on loan
MANCHESTER, England, June 17 (Reuters) - Cameroon international Marc Vivien Foe has joined English premier league newcomers Manchester City from Lyon on a one-year loan deal, the club said on Tuesday. Foe, who impressed with Cameroon at the World Cup despite their elimination at the group stage, returns for his second spell in English football after previously playing for London club West Ham. He has turned his back on the chance to play Champions League football with French club Lyon next season in favour of Kevin Keegan's newly-promoted City. Keegan told the club's website: "Marc was a long-term target and an absolute key to what we want to do. "He is big, strong and a great athlete. He knows English football." "Some signings you know are just right and this one is." Lyon have been paid 550,000 pounds ($814,200), with the option of a permanent deal. "Loan deals from big clubs are not easy," Keegan added. Manchester City were clear winners of the English first division last season. Foe will join new signings Peter Schmeichel and Nicolas Anelka at the club. Copyright 2002 Reuters Limited.
