YOKOHAMA, Japan (AP) -- The Emperor of Japan and the President of Korea headed the list of VIPs at Sunday's World Cup final between Brazil and Germany.

Emperor Akihito and his wife Michiko were alongside President Kim Dae-jung and his wife, Lee Hee-ho, in the Imperial box at the Yokohama International Stadium.

Also present were German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and Johannes Rau, the Federal President of Germany.

King Abdullah II of Jordan, who has flown into Japan for talks on financial aid, also was a guest at the final while other members of the Japanese royal family were Prince Takamado and his wife, Princess Hisako.

From the world of soccer, three-time World Cup winner Pele was in the 72,000 crowd and so was Argentine star Diego Maradona, who won a medal in 1986.

Although initially banned from entering Japan because of drugs offenses, Maradona was allowed a 30-day visa to attend the final as a guest of FIFA President Sepp Blatter.
