Venue information

Daejeon, also known as Taejon, is South Korea's technology capital and was the venue for the 1993 World Expo. It is almost in the center of South Korea and is an important transport hub. The soccer-only stadium was completed Sept. 13, 2001.

Simple in style, the stadium was designed to welcome spectators with the warmth found in the traditional courtyards of Korean homes.

The $222 million stadium is 7 kilometers (4 miles) from the city center. It is 45 kilometers (27 miles) from Cheongju Airport.

Adjacent to the city is South Korea's second national cemetery and the headquarters of the country's army, navy and air force.

Spain and South Africa will clash in a Group B match on June 12, Poland takes on the United States in a Group D match on June 14.
